MALTA
In Acts 27, Luke tells how Paul, when travelling to Rome on a large Alexandrian grain freighter, was shipwrecked off the coast of Malta after one of the worst storms in history. He describes the location as being in front of a bay with a beach.
The shipwreck story has more words than are found in the entire creation story in Genesis. Details include everything from the vessel's nautical headings, the type of storm, the ship's direction of drift, geographical landmarks on Malta, reef configurations, the depths of the sea floor and how every man on board, including Paul, survived.
Although Paul's visit was accidental, yours should be by design. Enjoy a warm climate, beautiful scenery and landmarks such as St John's Cathedral, Mdina (the silent city), St Paul’s Catacombs and Mosta Church, topped by one of the largest domes in the World.
You can also take the ferry to the neighbouring island of Gozo where you can visit the capital, Victoria, the pre-historic temples of Ggantija, the inland sea of Dwerja and the Azure Window.
