GREECE
Greece is not just the birthplace of the Olympic Games, it is the home of democracy, Western philosophy, literature, mathematics, drama and political science. It lies at the junction of Europe, Asia and Africa, and played a role in Greek, Roman and Byzantine empires.
Start your Greek tour in Athens: visit the Acropolis to see the Parthenon and Erechtheion. Visit the Areopagus, where the Apostle Paul delivered his sermon, the ancient Agora, Herod Atticus theatre and Temple of Olympian Zeus. And enjoy the splendours of the modern City, including the Plaka, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Parliament House, Presidential Palace and Panathenian Stadium.
You might also want to visit of the ancient city of Corinth, where Paul lived and preached, as well as the ancient ports of Lechaion and Cenchreae, where he disembarked. Then on to Mycenae to see the Lionesses' Gate, the Mycenaean Palace and the tomb of King Agamemnon.
You might also find time to explore Epidaurus, with its famous theatre, and Delphi, home of the Oracle and Mount Parnassus and the centre of the ancient world.
Then move on to Philippi, where Paul preached for the first time on European soil, and baptized the first European convert, and Thessaloniki, where Paul preached in AD 49-50 and wrote two epistles. From here, you can take a detour to see the amazing monasteries of Meteora, perched on top of tall spires of rock.
And there are many other places besides: a tour of the islands, for example, including the beautiful Patmos, where the apostle John was exiled and wrote the Book of Revelation. Or visit Crete, home to the Minoan Civilization, and Rhodes, with its medieval walled town created by the Knights of Saint John.
We are happy to sit down with you and define an itinerary following in the footsteps of St Paul but also taking time for classical archaeology, sunbathing, shopping or sailing.
